Ann was born in Bowmore on the Island of Islay in 1972 and brought up on Rothiemurchus Estate, Highlands. Having grown up, lived and worked in the Scottish Highlands, Ann has been constantly driven to recreate through art work those dramatic land forms which surround me. She is also particularly captivated by those character filled bothies and cottages which lie strewn across the highland park. Along with the fickle weather fronts that are experienced in the north, these muses are a constant challenge and inspiration.
Sketching outdoors allows Ann to immerse completely in the mood and atmosphere of the subject, capturing her perception of its essence.
For the past few years Ann has worked mainly in pastels and acrylic. Her new work however has encompassed using both these mediums alongside paper collage. On occasion Ann has also included in some instances the use of the written word, which she feel adds another dimension to the composition thereby opening the work up to further interpretation.
