Gillian rediscovered her teenage passion and talent for drawing and painting ten years ago and since then has been actively developing her existing skills through part time courses at Strathclyde University and Glasgow School of Art. Working in acrylics and water colours, she creates her paintings in her studio in East Kilbride. Taking inspiration from European cities such as Venice and Paris, her light and vivid water colours catch classic scenes of the cities that we all instantly recognise, meaning her paintings are familiar but clean and fresh at the same time. She also enjoys painting Scottish landscapes and is always looking for new subjects. Gillian has had successful exhibitions in Pittenween Arts Festival and East Kilbride Arts Centre and has won the coveted Paintings and Drawings category at the Chatelherault Arts Festival in 2011.
